EAST AFRICAN
FESTIVAL TOUR 2009!
Dear Godbrothers, Godsisters and Friends,
The following is a report about the last East African
Festival Tour 2009 of HH Mahavishnu Swami with His
group...
Devotees from different parties of the world: from
Denmark to Poland from Colombia to Canada, from
Italy to Congo ,Tanzania , Kenya ... were all united
in the desire to help His Holiness Mahavishnu Swami
in His preaching in East Africa, for the pleasure of
His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada!!
The tour started at the end of January 2009 and for
one month His Holiness and his group traveled
through Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. From the windows
of the truck it was possible to see zebras and
camels, and to hear Guru Maharaja chanting the Holy
Names for them. As is written in the Scriptures - a
pure devotee sees everyone and everything as
spiritual souls - and here it was possible to see,
with our own eyes, that what is written is true!
Guru Maharaja is so special that in every moment you
share with him, you can immediately realize how
insignificant your effort is to became a nice
devotee, how small and stupid you are, with your
mind full of useless things and desires, one can
feel how long the way is to learn how to love and
serve Lord Krishna.... |

Everyday it was an incredible
adventure! I saw Guru Maharaja cutting a lot of
pineapple by himself for the children of a school in
Tanzania: something happened to the devotees in
charge of food distribution, so the festival's
programme was finished and the prasadam didn't
arrive on time... The children and the teachers, who
were there, were starting to leave without any
prasadam and His Holiness Mahavishnu Swami was ready
to overcome the inconvenience: in a few seconds (he
was in the garden of the school) he jumped into the
truck and grasping a big knife he started cutting
into pieces a lot of pineapple, to give prasadam to
the festival audience of that afternoon!! We were
trying to think how to arrange some prasadam and
Guru Maharaja, alone, had already find the solution
very quickly!
It is amazing to have the merciful opportunity to
experience real sadhu sanga, and the East African
Festival Tour give this opportunity to everybody who
is "crazy" enough to give up everything they were
doing and follow the voice of Lord Krishna, Who is
calling us to spread His message in Africa: "Please
chant the Holy Names..." So everyone is welcome for
the next East African Festival Tour, it is not a
"tourist" experience, it's an experience that it
will make you a better person... Please come next
year!! You will see incredible things: very small
children chant the Holy Names in a few seconds after
hearing Them for the first time, and dancing
together in real ecstasy, forgetting everything,
even though they didn't have anything to eat: How
incredible is the power of the Holy Name of
Krishna!! You will see long faces of people changing
and becoming ecstatic faces, full of happiness; you
will see a crowd gathered around the table of the
devotee who are in charge of the book
distribution...You will touch and feel that Krishna
is really in every heart ...
The pictures of this article were taken at Isiolo (
Kenya): the African Festival Group had a programme
there and a harinam too. In Isiolo there is a nice
temple, that was opened a few weeks before. It was a
preaching centre before becoming a temple. The local
devotees are very kind, and caring, and they are
sincerely trying to spread Krishna Conciousness in
their area: they have harinam every morning, they
also have prasadam distribution in the schools and
programmes in the temple.
African people are very spontaneous, they don't have
any problems to dance and chant the Holy Names in
the middle of the street, they are without worries
about what people can say or think, and it is so
nice to personally assist and take part in this,
trying to give our small and humble help for
spreading Krishna Conciousness here in Africa...
We would like to humbly thank His Holiness
Mahavishnu Swami and the African Festival Group for
everything they are doing there...
